ecological topographical conceptual center for community research and design: woodbury university department of architecture neighborhood gallery had this wonderful colorful sculpture in the window near schrader and hollywood.
a coral reef or flower of painted pasta.
it delighted almost as much as the kind message i discovered in its presence wishing love.
as life is too short to not say so.
downtown at the art walk,
cyril helnwein from austria had gorgeous unmanipulated black and white photography of classic downtown los angeles landmarks. the beauty of women beside architecture, so gripping. what's better than women or architecture? and together . . .
an official reception on saturday, as for the spring street upstairs galleries.
so there will be more fun art events downtown, as the 100,000 homeless go about their public executions . . . life sentences . . . hunger . . . toil.
poverty being sort of a sadistic conceptual art project of a society.
met patrick haemmerlein at the hive and talked with him over his art urban1028.com.
photos-text-black and white-found wood-tape-lacquer . . . chatted over the shepard fairey.
who thinks what? don't you wonder?
haemerlein's friend walt hall had stuff at the hive as well as the fresh and yuppy pet emporium's bailey gallery.
who doesn't need an art gallery at their upscale bright green gourmet boutique dog washers?
the green truck eco-ed up the dining options.
met "O" of freelanceartist.com and dominantprimate.com. recorded fun interview for youtube/maryeng1.
enjoyed dissolver at the regent. dark and spooky and awesome! mazzy starish, two cats filled up the room with sound!
will be there 23 april space15twenty sunset&cahuenga to hear them again i hope!!!!
kindly, dj richardray of the standard was calling to commiserate or confabulate
met with travis winn (NIO) and took notes as he and sean harrigan chatted tech stuff.
the siren exhibit with jule rotenberg and christy rogers at the spring street lofts was beautiful and nicely DJed.
declage deluxe showed off some styling chairs that looked a bit too stiff to sit in. art slant likes them.
back in hollywood, warlords of rock and roll and thunder and lightning nearly gave me a heartattack, which i consider flattering for a sometimes metal band.
maybe i have arythmia, or panic at times, or it was the full moon, or sheer noise, or electrolytes, but i think the sound nearly killed me, in a good way. they are looking for the mp3 of "i suck" which is my favorite song.
hurt weed report dude's feelings by not extolling the graces of his movie involving weed, etc. but i promise to keep an open mind for future releases . . . despite knowing better.
nothing against the plant at all.
listening to wise words of kate crash today . . .
brian mcguire as gene wilder rocked the a.m. three of clubs with andy clockwise playing mean new wave beats. cam powell stepped in to make it extra snappy. brett richards' sax made me want to cry, and i realize that haircut he pulled on us a few weeks back is so the it-cut according to the kitchen24 late nite runway, where sean and i convened for late night geekiness. he assures me that nick maybury thinks libras are always great cooks. jane asked me if i knew nick maybury. i was like, who? the guitarist? she said he's all about the astrology, which is so refreshing don't you think?
seems his twitter indicates perrypalooza in vegas, concurrent with rockabilly festival . . .
warlords premiered the "everything will happen before you die" reggae song. not sure if this is pure intellectual property theft or a concerted multi-media collaboration, or cross-pollination, or some rad guerilla marketing, but i'm thinking its all in the family.
kristian attard and tamir briefly graced us with their presence.
andy clockwise politely crawled out on all fours for a smoke. i thought he wanted to play kitty-cat, so i joined him on hands and knees, for a meow, until i realized he merely did not want to obscure the view. as i had previously requested meowing, i thought my wish was granted.
andy said i couldn't come to the spaceland show. when i started to cry, he relented and said i will have a VIP section just for me, that's actually a cage, with lots of coffee, and books, and jean paul sartre. i got excited about the cage, it sounded so bondagey, and i said it sounded just like my room and asked if it would also contain earl grey, blanchot, bataille, baudrillard and such?
he said he thought so . . .
brian mcguire sang scary songs about giving all your money to the psychic, and fantasies of the laconic mailman's wife, and helping him find his voice, i think.
felt the complete joy division thing.
his guitar was held together with a classic homemade grey duct tape strap, ever so punky yet,
i wanted to hook him up with a fancy copperpeace strap . . . hmmm . . . katy perry has one and she's rocking the dinah fest . . .
the genewilder lineup made sense after a day of the birthday party, einsturzende neubauten, bauhaus, thunder, and my dear bro michael eng's music . . .
felt happy to tell cam powell how nice the new stuff is from thunder from heaven on reverb nation.
joey tolerated my attempts at conversation, and i made a new friend, jeremy zang, dj who loves portishead and hercules love affair.
tai from DC and berkeley school of music told me to check out andy clockwise on thehawkshow.tv
andy has
great things planned with stella . . .
sean explained how the domain name scene will change as the .coms and .nets will be passe soon . . .
that's fun to think about . . .
dan finkle was extra wonderful and i'm glad to get invited out . . .
he's emailed me that he is actually a big part of the movie production---hello director dah!---and a co-writer and has plans for a collaborative everything will happen before you die album . . .
i'm on the edge of my seat and so excited about the dream made film . . . .
it seems mark boone junior is involved. i met the boone in another lifetime in a tornado surrounding will de los santos of spun-fame . . . boone took me to flore for vegan food once and he got a nasty parking ticket---and to spaceland where i saw mitchell's folly for the first time---boone's a dear . . .
umm so andy clockwise got a myspace featuring which means more spam for life.
andy said myspace is a ghosttown
hope they don't get their feelings hurt.
and genewilder's pulling rank on reverb nation.
what's this talk of radioplay?
sean said kcrw went to the dogs with boringness . . .
well . . . i still love nic harcourt and wish i could hang out with kroq's rodney bingenheimer, he's just so adorable, driving around in his blue car.
nick harcourt brought us dungen and MIA and rodney claims credit for the editors, not to mention all the great stuff covered in "the mayor of sunset set strip" biopic (bowie, beatles, etc.).
rodney was shy about that movie when i asked, and i assured him he's royal golden awesomeness.
its amazing what interesting people frequent the wheatgrass scene.
downtown was ok-wonderful.
roving packs of david bowie lookalikes made prowl upon galleries, and society ladies mingled in their dame judy dench best.
artstrike set up a temp space in a truck, and i heard hit+run do fast guerilla style t-shirt sales with their rad prints.
a lot of the non-galleried street artists were cordoned off into a cozy parking lot which dominantprimate.com's "O" said was like an art concentration camp.
his art is about the wars and oil and chomsky and the scream and corporate logos tagging our skylines and mindscapes.
i asked if he had anything about darfur.
he was thinking of making a dismal swirl of screams and skulls into the darfur art.
but that somehow the subject is so difficult to assay.
i asked, like genocide is the end of art?
but that art could breed empathy, he noted.

met incidentally a rufus sewell the other day, and rudely asked, who are you?
he said, an actor.
i said i know, but who?
you were in something good . . . about ten years ago, when i stopped watching american films . . .
he played along,
i was in something good once . . .
he was like yes that's about the last time . .
and he asked where i was from due to my fake BBC accent and he said i'd make a nice newscaster.
then we chatted about the london police killing that man at the g20 protest, or beating him to heartattack rather . . .
and cops being awful everywhere . . .
i felt momentarily as though i were on set with rosencrantz and guildenstern . . .
