It has come to my attention that I've failed to be positive and upbeat about the state of education here in California. Some have called me critical. Snobbish, even. Well, I'm here to set the record straight; I'm as hopeful as a hummin'bird. I believe that children are our future (wage slaves). Below are a consice list of points to uplift us about our future.
1. Polls show that the United States is eighteenth in language arts, twenty fifth in math and science, worldwide. This is what we'd call a "negative spin;" American children are "stretched thin" learning a variety of subjects that other children don't have to study, such as bullet-dodging, screaming, and hoplessness-management, all of which Americans are excelling in.
2. Data shows that an uneducated child from a wealthy family is far more likely to be wealthy than an educated child of a poor family. The fact that many children seem to know this intuitively and adjust their behavior and learning styles accordingly just proves how sharp and on-top-of-it students truly are. Giving up in advance demonstrates incredible logic and critical thinking skills. What initiative!
3. California currently spends 100,000,000 more bucks every year on prisons than education. While some laid-off teachers might lament this statistic, I say it's an investment in future housing for them once they "risk it all" on potentially more lucrative career choices, such as Narcotics Marketing and Sales, Credit Card Fraud Systems and Operations, etc.
Any more positive notes you've thought of? Let's dispell this notion that we're a bunch of Debbie Downers! "
