a message to Adult Protective Services about discrimination against a Veteran at Bob Chisholm meals On Wheels Seaside, Oregon
On October 31, 2019, I attended the Bob Chisholm Center Meals on Wheels event with Robby
Diedrich, retired US Public health service nurse officer, and currently Catholic church street
evangelist for the homeless in Seaside, Oregon.
As Mr. Robby was offered food and drink, he attended the medical concerns of a 95 year old
woman, who he visits every day at the Chisholm Center, and she said “Robby is something
wrong?” as the tall man called him out of his meeting. He almost went into a PTSD episode.
Darren Gooch and a person named Jennifer took Robby aside and prevented him from having
interactions with his elderly contacts. Robby is concerned about his friend who he has sent to
ER for potential undiagnosed diverticulitis.
He was prevented from re-assessing her medical situation. She looked very stressed due to his
exclusion. Robby feels that now she is worried about him.
Robby told his friends he cannot go back there. They embarrassed him telling him what to do.
Normally, Robby does not eat the food due to his vegetarian diet. He was offered a salad, and
fruit pie, and milk.
Darren Gooch approached me, Mary Eng, to request I leave due to safety concerns regarding
the tall man who singled out Robby for exclusion.
Gooch agreed that by policy he could take cash for 6.75 for the non-senior meal price, despite
my vegan diet, and not wanting to eat.
I proposed the solution that we go to the ATM at Safeway to get the center 20$.
This would cover the 6.75 for two non-seniors, and 3.50 for the senior, all of whom were not-
eating. I offered to stay outside in the Lobby when Robby attended the medical concerns and
social concerns of his elderly friends.
They were upset that he was asked to leave.
His VA Member ID is (redacted)
Robert B. Diedrich asked me to compose this account as an affidavit for his reporting this
incident to Northwest Senior and Disability Services Adult Protection because of limited mental
capability related to service connected Vietnam era injury.
His phone (503) (redacted) can be dialed to take his testimony.
He has been going there for over a year. They never treated him like that before.
