Portland @janellemonae and @wondaland "Hell You Talm Bout" #DontShootPDX 3
from Casey Parks article for the oregonian: http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/in... Portland police reform activists say singer Janelle Monae will join them today in a North Portland protest. Don't Shoot PDX leaders said Monae and Jidenna, the singer/rapper behind the hit "Classic Man" will march with them against police brutality. The rally begins at 1 p.m. at Dawson Park and is scheduled to last until 4 p.m. Monae's camp has not publicly confirmed, but the singers led a similar march in San Francisco's Mission district over the weekend. Three hundred people marched there, singing "Hell You Talmbout," a protest song written by Monae, Jidenna and others in their Wondaland crew. In the song, they chant the names of black Americans killed by police or vigilantes.
