Inte enbart svenska grävande journalister verkar ha drabbats av ryggskott utan också en pandemi tycks ha utbrutit. Flertalet av världens vanligtvis kritiska och observanta samhällsjournalister, med ett fåtal undantag, tycks nu villrådigt huka och/eller fokusera sitt intresse för Julian Assange och Wikileaks på en sprucken kondom, när i själva verket ett gigantiskt justitiemord spelas upp mitt framför näsan och inom det egna reviret.

En kollega, arketypen för hur varje journalist borde vara, håller på att malas till småsmulor av de krafter som han och alla vi andra är tänkta att granska; ...har någon global jantelag plötsligt hemsökt journalistkollektivet, eller vad handlar det egentligen om, för Julian Assange och Wikileaks?

Javisst, jag har tagit ställning för Wikileaks, men har full respekt för alla som inte delar min uppfattning, eller bara är helt neutrala, så måste det så klart vara. Men snälla, släpp den spruckna kondomvinkeln, nästa gång Julian Assange och Wikileaks är på agendan och försök lyfta blicken mot "skogen" i stället.

Det är väl ingen, hoppas jag, utom möjligen Jan Guillou i Aftonbladet (http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/kolumnister/janguillou/article13892180.ab), som inte har fattat att huvudskälet till varför Julian Assange inte vågar sig till Sverige, är ett generöst utlämningsavtal som Sverige har tecknat med USA. Så här skriver Julian Assanges advokat inför en förestående riskerad utlämning till Sverige: "Det är inte det svenska rättsväsendet i sig som utgör något 'allvarligt hot' mot Assange, utan en juridisk knepighet som kallas 'ett tillfälligt överlämnande', enligt vilket han kan skickas vidare från Sverige till USA utan prövning, snabbt och i hemlighet."

Med tanke på det godtycke som juridiska myndigheter i USA har tillämpat till exempel i Bradley Mannings fall, så vore det väl mer än uppseendeväckande om Julian Assange inte stretade emot en utlämning till Sverige, för allt vad tygen håller.

Jag försöker efter bästa förmåga och så objektivt som möjligt följa vad som skrivs om Wikileaks/Julian Assange och andra utsatta journalister, på Facebooksidan "Don't shoot the Messenger" (www.facebook.com/globaljournalist) som jag administrerar. I'm sure you've seen the continued battle about the "PROTECT IP Act" and the "Stop Online Piracy Act"—aka, PIPA and SOPA, aka Hollywood's latest misguided efforts to fight "piracy."

Now come the publishers: Representatives Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Darrell E. Issa (R-CA) have introduced a bill designed to kill open access to scientific work that the US government has paid for! The Research Works Act targets a policy of the NIH to require free downloading of NIH funded work within 12 months of publication. The Maloney/Issa bill would forbid that policy, or any other policy that would encourage open-access distribution for government funded work.

Our friend Michael Eisen at the Public Library of Science has been blogging up a storm about this issue (here, here, and this piece for the New York Times). But it won't surprise you to read about what Eisen says is behind this craziness: money. As he calculated using MAPLight data, almost 40% of the contributions from the Dutch publisher Elsevier and its senior executives have gone to Maloney. Is it any wonder why 75% of Americans believe "money buys results in Congress"?

Congresswoman Maloney may well have a good reason for forcing Americans to pay twice for scientific research—first in taxes to the US government, and second, to foreign publishers, like Elsevier. But nothing in her responses so far evince any good reason. Regardless, so long as we have special-interest-funded-elections, such reasons will never sound real. That's the same story that the SOPA opponents are telling us again and again: but for the endless cash coming from Hollywood interests, many who support SOPA wouldn't have given it a second thought.

This is the point that we Rootstrikers (or "Batmen" if you're a fan of Jon Stewart) need to teach.

so um. i really don't think the term feminist conveys my masculine side or my solidarity with the oppressed men of the world. so in a way---i am not bound by a gender identity---and feel genderless most of the time--a neutral spirit.
i feel ineligible for the term feminist or even woman--but then i'm a nihilist 99% of the time anyway and cant be bothered with essentialism
and identity.

in the sense that the term feminist embodies a full realization of total economic and civic equality for women---yes i am incredibly interested in this.

1) Julian Assange is not charged with anything in Sweden or any other country.

10) Swedish prosecutor, Marianne Ny, refused to provide Julian Assange or his lawyers with information on the allegations against him in writing. Conclusion and References

Julian Assange is wanted in Sweden for questioning. According to the law, Julian is not required to be present in the country for the interview to take place. It could instead be conducted using alternative methods, such as a simple phonecall.
On the 13th July 2011, during an extradition appeal hearing, Judges on the case asked why this did not happen:

”Why go through all of this if Mr. Assange offered to be interviewed?”
”Why does judicial corporation not entail… sensible steps to get on with it?”

Prosecution, however, continuously refuses to interview Julian in the UK, insisting he must be extradited to Sweden for interrogation. For this purpose an European Arrest Warrant was issued by Sweden, in disregard for one of its basic restrictions: an EAW is for prosecution purposes only.
The extradition to Sweden insisted upon by prosecution would facilitate subsequent extradition to the US and, therefore, the Swedish case against Julian Assange cannot be dissociated from the ongoing US Grand Jury investigation on WikiLeaks. As such, it is extremely important any opinion formed on this specific subject be based on facts.

so much so, perhaps i went into shock.
almost numb, and trivial i have become.
mainly what i do now is walk great distances, which i realized is the equivalent of pacing.
i am supposed to be sleeping now, but i am cold, and my heart feels so empty, empty beyond sadness.

i realized the empty feeling was partly related to hunger. and so then eating to renourish the body--lentils, spinach, garbonzo, peas, brussel sprouts.
eating white baguette day after day, like a prisoner on a subsistence diet, is so bad for everything.
a year ago i mainly only ate avocados and carrot juice.
the year before that orange juice and potato chips.

the wikileaks supporter said he would take me out to dinner, something vegetarian.
even around 2004, part of the economic hit was eating less.

the passive type says we have to be inclusive.
it is however child abuse and abusive on non-consenting would-be occupiers to force non-consensual second hand smoke. chain smoking occupy is not child-friendly. occupy should be child friendly. it is not asthma friendly. the default should not be OCCUPY CHAIN SMOKERS, but it is england, rude and boorish, and they act as though they do not know a thing about cancer.
