Kate Crash at Nathalia Gaviria fashion show at 6363 Hollywood Blvd. 8pm Saturday 2-7-09:
Such gorgeous male and female models made this a very fun event! there was electronic music, wine and food, and the creative clothing of Nathalia Gaviria at 6363 Hollywood Blvd. I barely made it in time for the 8pm fashion show Saturday night.
My friend called me and woke me from a stupor. With the excitement of getting text and email from the hypertalented Kate Crash in the same day, I had to be there.
She's my new rock revolution, and my personal icon of empowerment, and graced me with the most brilliant interview two days ago.
Kate let me in on the plan. She would take centerstage as the last model, and then break into song and dance with her amazing band.
I got to meet them. I met Hero Supa the MC and ringleader. Super smoking hot bass player Marlene. Who was the adorable guitarist with the wonderful pin on his lapel? Oh my gosh, what a team she has!!!
Kate's rocking band!!!
Love it!
And Kate Crash---think about this: she wears knee pads! As in she does dangerous stuff!!!!! Contortion, high kicks, slides, back-bending, writhing on the ground, cabaret, pantomime, pirouettes, all while singing . . . sinister in-your-face songs such as "Let's get Criminal" performed with watergun, or "Ain't got much (to say to you)" or a number about society's expectations that had me rather intrigued . . . I think she was singing about freedom . . . .
She and her gorgeous crew were off to a gig at Mister T's . . .
The sound is ultra-danceable and rock and punk and fun experimental . . .
not to get reference-y but tonight I felt the spirit of Le Tigre, Chicks on Speed, Cibo Mato, Melt Banana, Polysics, as in everything suuuuuuuuper cool . . . .
Go to katecrash.com for music and comedy . . .color and the promise of "the most entertaining thing on earth."
And she'll sing to you about thinking about loneliness and how she doesn't need a man to fix it . . .
As her bio quips, "And just who is Kate crash? Well who isn't?"
as Kate the persona, is a self-proclaimed movement of "conscious global intermedia revolution!"
Kate Crash the glorious . . .
