Dear Portland Resident,
You are receiving this message because you provided information to the United States during the course of its investigation of the Portland Police Bureau’s use of force. We are writing to inform you that a Fairness Hearing in the matter United States v. City of Portland, 3:12-cv-2265, has been scheduled before Judge Simon in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon on February 18, 2014 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 13B. The Fairness Hearing is open to the public. The purpose of the Fairness Hearing is to assist the Court’s determination of whether the proposed Settlement Agreement between the United States and the City of Portland is fair, reasonable, and adequate. Attached to this email, you will find a copy of:
1) the Complaint in this case;
2) the Proposed Settlement Agreement;
3) the Court’s Order setting the Fairness Hearing and its governing procedures; and
