June F. Olson, 81, died Aug. 23, 2006, in Butte. She was born on June 6, 1925, to George and Edna (Tobin) Driscoll.
She was educated at St. Mary’s Grade School and Girls’ Central High.
During World War II, June worked at both the Naval Shipyards on Bremerton and at Barnes General Hospital in Seattle.
After returning to Butte, on Oct. 24, 1948, she married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Russell Olson. He died Oct. 17, 2004. Together they shared 56 wonderful years, and produced three children: Jenny (Mike) Regan of Butte, Rosemary (Dave) Jany of Billings, and Rusty (Pam) Olson of Butte.
June worked for more than 28 years at St. James Hospital, first as a nurse’s aide and later as a licensed practical nurse. She retired in 1975 for health reasons.
June was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mane, Elaine and Jean; and grandson, Brian Olson.
She is survived by her 15 grandchildren: R.J. Olson of Wise River, Michele (Brad) Sanders of Bakersfield, Calif., Amy (Justin) Moser of Billings, Mike (Marie) Regan of Butte, Andy (Shanna) Olson of Three Forks, Josh (Marcie) Jany of Lafayette, La., Angie Regan of Los Angeles, Bryn (Jim Pat) Smith of Butte, Kaci (Danny) Jenkins of Lancaster, Calif., Kevin Regan of Butte, Susie Regan of Bozeman, and Kyle Olson, Dennis, John and Laura Regan, all of Butte; six great-grandchildren, Jason and Katie Sanders of Bakersfield, Kaileigh and AJ Moser of Billings and Alyssa Jany of Lafayette, and Mikey Regan of Butte.
She is also survived by her sister, Georgia Hoar of Butte; sister and brother-in-law, Dee and Joe Dringle of Belgrade; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Darlene Dwyer of Redmond, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Peggy Olson of Helena and Ginny Melvin of Missoula; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
June was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and her faith sustained her for her entire life. It is in fact, the greatest gift she passed on to all of her family.
Liturgy of the Resurrection was celebrated Saturday in the Holy Spirit Church. Entombment followed in Holy Cross Cemetery mausoleum.
