City Council, char-LIE-the-hales-TRUMPY threw us out again!!
I wanted to support Lightning and Craig who were scheduled to talk during communications. There were two other people scheduled but they were a no show. Kif Davis was stopped from communications last week because he wanted to use a prop and security said no. Props have always been allowed during communications. You cannot use a large prop to block others from seeing but during scheduled communications it is allowed. On 3/9/2016 I yelled out about only two people showing up to use the 3 minutes to petition our government because you must wait for a month or so from the time you sign up to the time you speak; unacceptable.
The County Board lets you sign up the day of the meeting and will let you speak during communications that day!
This council does not like communications because that is when we as citizens can speak on any topic we want, the are limits but not many. The only way they can stop communication is via the Charter and a vote of the people of Portland; not going to happen. So what to do if you are the 5 shits?
If you have to sign up months in advance, when your turn comes up, the chances are you will be busy with other things or just forget you are on the list to speak. That is why I got angry again at only two out of five people showing up on 3/9/2016.
Individuals For Justice has asked many times that * hales use the same procedure as the County does, sign up and speak your “peace!”
There was one funny moment, as we decided to leave the chambers and not get arrested, going out the door---Steve Novick became caught in the doorway and was holding the door. I could not resist, Comm. Steve holding the door for me, I asked, “Are you going to the “Candidates Forum” tomorrow night?” He did not answer me, ran over to the other door, sometimes I think he does not like me.
We went down to have our coffee and the G4S security were not sure what to do because part of the injunction talks to throwing us out of a multi-use building like City Hall. Finally only one police officer showed up and he came over and we had a nice chat, he called me Joe and I requested that he use Mr. Walsh. It went well after that and we finished our mochas and coffees. I got a wonderful surprise as Roberto offered to drive me home. Well, enough adventures for today, tomorrow we have the forums and that should be exhausting but fun! I did not expect to get thrown out but I think they don’t like me very much any more????0
