Subject: Re: AMAC 4/25 Community Forum on the Settlement Agreement

To Whomever is in charge:

Will there heavily armed Portland Police presence there, and if yes, please share how many will be present, the name of officers, and the name of the immediate crew supervisor on sight and what their duties and responsibilities will be for the night?

I would very much appreciate being present and continuing participation in the Community Oversight Advisory Board, but due to the "totality of my experience” I am finding myself fearful and unable to attend most Portland public meetings. As a NON-VIOLENT citizen, Its frightening to twice have been arrested, have my electronic devices confiscated, and violated for asserting by First Amendment Right to Assemble. With careful observation it seems that the new norm at public meetings is to lead by officials that seem fearful of strangers and therefore demand scary and heavy police presence with an aggressive nature in commands to shut down “Free Speech” and “Assemblies" of those they deem to not understand. I deduce the violation of civil rights is due to the disorderly and rushed manner that public meetings are lead and treated by officials like Community Liaisons' Rosenbaum and Watson and Mayor, Ted Wheeler.  I say all of this deliberately in the hopes that the planning committees will be thoughtful and consider what is being  asked when reaching out to citizens to join in a “Public” meeting that may cause them and me to be violated.

Thank you for your consideration and hoping for an open transparent exchange and sharing of information.

Sincerely,

Concerned and Afraid Citizen,
Laura Vanderlyn, Artist
