Hi Mandi and Laura
I think the main thrust of the question is whether there will be armed police acting as security at the church, to which the answer is definitely no. It is possible that individual officers and/or the Chief or others involved in the Settlement Agreement may show up to the church. I don't think the AMAC is specifically inviting them but since this is (so far as we know) the only public forum about the Agreement and the COCL's report happening between the end of January and the beginning of May, they may want to at least hear from the community what's going on. I believe that in general officers were asked not to come to COAB meetings in uniform and hope that will be the case here as well.

Hi
Just For All Your Info, I have asked this question to the Steering Committee and Chairs. Since it is Good Friday/Easter weekend the ministers likely won't have a response until next week, but I think Mandi is right that such a presence is highly unlikely.

Thanks for your patience

Hi Laura,

I hear and understand your concerns and fears in attending Portland public meetings. To clarify about the event on April 25th: the AMAC is organizing the public forum, not the City. The COCL-COAB office sent the announcement to our mailing list as a way to support the AMAC in getting the information out.

Dr.?s Bethel and Haynes have listed themselves as contacts for the forum. While I assume there will not be police presence in the way you describe, you?re welcome to get in touch with them at 503-288-7242 to confirm/discuss.

Best,

Mandi
