Greg McKelvey's assault charges

Hi Mary,

I just viewed your YouTube video questioning Greg McKelvey's assault charges. I had the same questions too. I friended Greg and his girlfriend Kathryn right after the Trump election. As the resistance started to grow, I friended more and more activists on FB. Then I noticed all the left-wing infighting going on and a post about how Greg was arrested for assault with a link to the 2011 Corvallis Gazette Times article about it.  A day later, I noticed the activist who had posted the link took it down.  About a month later, when I tried to google the newspaper article, it was nowhere to be found... not even on the wayback machine archive site. It bothered me and like you, I thought about messaging Greg to ask him about it. But then I noticed his mother was a lawyer and she probably helped him get the charges dismissed and I assumed he would either just deny it and/or unfriend me. I thought about messaging Kathryn, his girlfriend, but she didn't accept my FB friend request until just recently and I figured she must have heard about it and believes whatever excuse Greg has given her.

When I googled Greg again today, I found part of the article on some BrainGarbage blog and I happily found your YouTube video.  I was aware that is dad is a religious conservative Republican (so his mom probably is as well) but I didn't know there is a photo of him with Paul Ryan or that he may have supported Romney. It wouldn't surprise me if he used to be a Republican like his dad, many who attend OSU tend to be conservative, and that he may have changed his views in the past 5 years or so. He was young and learning about life. Greg and Kat seem like a wonderful activist couple (sort of Portland's Bonnie and Clyde against Trump and police brutality) but these charges are very concerning and I'm surprised the corporate media hasn't heard about this. There are so many possibilities.... is he a mole for the right? Is he truly a young conservative turned left-wing activist who made a mistake in college, his parents helped him get the charges dropped, and has grown and learned his life lesson and wants to move on and be a less violent man now? Did he make reparations to his victim and has she forgiven him?

I'm trying to find you on FB. Are you Mary Englund on FB? I would love to friend you because you seem like a good feminist/activist.

Thanks for Youtubing,

Lise
